CALHOUN COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 20 (Infinite Headlines) — Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies have arrested six people after a fight broke out June 6 at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River in South Carolina, and investigators say more arrests are expected as they review video and public submissions.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the suspects are Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell and Taylor Knudson. The office said they face various assault and breach-of-peace charges.

Authorities said the disturbance was tied to the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run. Sheriff’s office video showed multiple fights and crowds gathering at the river sandbar.

Sheriff Thomas Summers said more than 20 people were involved and at least three were injured, with injuries ranging from swollen eyes to head injuries. He also said alcohol was a factor and deputies identified numerous cases of underage drinking.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active. Officials have not said what sparked the violence.
