NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is voluntarily recalling more than 13,000 electric toaster ovens sold online in the U.S. and Canada after regulators said a cord insulation problem could create a shock or fire hazard for shoppers who bought the models through Amazon, Costco and Panasonic websites.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens, stainless steel units with the Panasonic name on the front and a temperature knob on the bottom. The agency said about 11,480 were sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 were sold in Canada.
The ovens were sold online from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170, according to the CPSC. Panasonic Corporation of North America is the importer, and Panasonic Manufacturing (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. is the manufacturer in China.
The agency said it has received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.
A Costco member notice from Panasonic said Costco purchase records show some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The notice told customers to stop using the ovens immediately and said they may return the product to Panasonic for a refund or to a Costco warehouse customer service window for a full refund.
